Up to 80% of children that have a speech sound disorder have an orofacial myofunctional disorder. Orofacial myology looks at the muscles of the face and mouth, the lips, cheeks, jaw, and tongue. At Atwell, we utilize orofacial myology as one mode of intervention that helps bridge the gap between feeding and speech. We assess oral motor skills to ensure that the children we work with have the foundational skills needed for successful feeding and speech.
